East Midlands-based housing developer William Davis says it is to start work on seven new sites in the early part of this year, after revealing a 15% rise in pre-tax profits for the year to the end of May last year.
Managing director Guy Higgins said the £7.3m pre-tax profit figure was boosted by the sale of land in April last year, although the company has noticed an upturn particularly in private housing since the start of 2013.
He said: “Following a number of significant planning permissions, we will be building new homes in Loughborough, Shepshed , Hathern and Lutterworth in Leicestershire with homes being released for sale imminently. We also have schemes in Worcestershire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire coming on stream soon.”
He said he expected the Loughborough based company, which currently employs around 400 people, would experience similar growth this year as the market continues to grow, while its financial position would help it overcome challenges such as longer lead times for materials and an increasingly competitive labour market.
