News Vinci Completes New Green Motor Sport Centre

Vinci Construction has completed the development of the new headquarters for Formula E, the motor racing industry’s latest race series that is designed to be more eco-friendly.

Formula E, organised by the Federation International de Automobile (FIA), uses single seat racing cars powered by electricity from the grid, which are capable of top speeds of 225mph.

The headquarters, at Donington Park, have been designed to meet BREEAM “Very good” standards and the government’s Low Carbon Economy guidelines.

Teams and staff from the 10 Formula E teams have already started to move into the centre, ahead of the first 10-race series, which starts in September in Beijing.

Chris Hamer, regional managing director for building at Vinci Construction UK, said: “We are very pleased to have played a critical role in making the Formula E headquarters fit for purpose, and of course, to play a role in supporting and reinvigorating the British motorsport industry.“
