News Sue Sharp Elected President Building Engineering Services Association

Sue Sharp has been elected president of the Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES) for 2012/13.

Sharp joined the building engineering services sector in 1987– following a career in banking – when she was appointed office manager by Overclean, the Devon-based ventilation hygiene specialist which has been a member of the association since 1996.

She was promoted to operations director of Overclean in 1996 and managing director two years later, remaining in the latter post until 2007, when she accepted a non-executive directorship of the company.

She also runs a management consultancy called Sharp Business Solutions which provides a range of business services to small businesses, many of which are active in the heating, plumbing and electrical sectors.

On a voluntary basis, she is involved in a mentoring scheme established by the National Enterprise Network, which grants business start-up loans to the unemployed.

She has been a member of the Council of the Association since 2003, and was chairman of its Service & Facilities Group from 2010 to 2012. She also served as chairman of the South West Regional Branch for four years from 2005.

Sharp was elected vice president of the association in July 2010 and president elect in July 2011. She succeeded to the presidency of B&ES at its annual general meeting on Thursday 19 July 2012.

At the same meeting, Bruce Bisset of Galloway Group became president elect, and Andy Sneyd of Crown House Technologies was elected vice president. Bob Shelley of Argent FM will serve during 2012/13 as immediate past president.
