News Severfield Rowen Cut 93 Jobs

Severfield-Rowen is planning to cut around 93 jobs at its structural steel subsidiary Severfield-Watson Structures.

The company, which only came together as a single unit last year, is currently consulting with staff, but the cuts are likely to come from both office staff and factory operatives at its facilities in Lostock in Lancashire and South Normanton in Derbyshire.

A company spokesman said: “Today’s announcement is a necessary step to address underlying operational inefficiencies within the business and allow the wider Severfield-Rowen Group to compete effectively in the challenging UK construction market.

However he added that the cuts would mark the end of the restructure the company is going through “and will provide a level of operating capacity that is appropriate to prevailing market demand levels”.
