News Plans New Buckingham Primary School Submitted

Plans for a new primary school on London Road in Buckingham, which will have places for more than 200 children, have been submitted by a group of homebuilders to Aylesbury Vale District Council.

The school which is scheduled to open in 2015, will encompass a 26 place onsite nursery, playing fields and car parking. There will also be a separate community hall with a committee room, shower and changing facilities and vehicle parking.

The planning application was submitted to the local council by a consortium of homebuilders, including Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Bovis, which is currently building a total of 700 homes at the Windsor Park development next to the proposed six hectare school site.
Andrew Swindell, managing director for Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are working closely with the local council, residents, our consortium partners and other groups to bring this great new facility to the community.

“The school is part of our continuing work to bring high quality developments to Buckingham and the surrounding area, and we look forward to getting started on this exciting project.”

As well as providing a well-equipped education establishment it is hoped that the as-yet-unnamed school will become a focal point for the community, able to adapt with changes to the national curriculum while continuing to grow and teach future generations.

Simon Bridge, regional project manager for Bovis, said: “Windsor Park is quickly becoming a thriving new part of the Buckingham community, with a number of growing families moving in to take advantage of this excellent location.

“And while new communities are built around homes and people, they also need excellent modern facilities which meet the residents’ needs, and we believe the plans submitted by the consortium provide this and represent an exciting milestone in the history of the development.”
