News Muse £100m South Shields Redevelopment

Morgan Sindall subsidiary Muse Developments has been appointed by South Tyneside Council to deliver a £100m town centre renewal scheme for South Shields.

The South Shields 365 plan aims to introduce a new retail quarter into the Fowler Street West area of the town with 175,000 sq ft of new retail and leisure space including a food store.

The scheme will also create a new cinema, library and a hotel, while the council is also working with Nexus, the Tyne and Wear passenger transport executive, to bring associated improvements to the Metro system along with a new transport interchange.

Work is due to start next summer and should take six years to complete.

Morgan Sindall chief executive John Morgan said: “We have a strong track record in delivering complex, mixed use regeneration schemes. This important project will see the creation of a vibrant retail and leisure quarter as well as the development of new homes and will unlock new opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors to the area.”
