News Murphy Take Over Collapsed Land Marine

Some 184 jobs look to be saved this afternoon after administrators at Deloitte confirmed that Murphy Group will buy the assets of collapsed Daniel Contractor’s subsidiary Land & Marine Project Engineering together with a number of the company’s contracts.

The jobs at risk were mainly at the company’s head office at Bromborough in the Wirral.

Both Daniel Contractors and Land & Marine fell into administration on Wednesday, ending weeks of speculation that the firm, which was founded in 1994, was in serious financial difficulties.

The joint administrators are continuing to review their options regarding the remaining areas of the business.

Bill Dawson, joint Administrator and partner in Deloitte’s restructuring services team, said: “We are pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement with Murphy Group that ensures that a further 184 jobs have been saved. We have had a number of expressions of interest in the remaining elements of the group that we are hopeful may result in further business transfers.”

So far some 1,174 jobs at the collapsed group have been saved.
