News Kier Consortium Wins Pfi Fire Station Rebuilding Programme London

Blue3, a consortium comprising Kier and Infrastructure Fund Manager (DIF) as 50% co-investors, has been selected to deliver the design, build, financing and maintenance of nine fire stations on behalf of the London Fire Brigade.

The selection of Blue3 marks the end of the procurement of a major private finance initiative (PFI) contract.

In June 2013 Kier Construction is expected to begin works, valued at £45m, to replace and make major improvements to Dagenham, Dockhead, Leytonstone, Mitcham, Old Kent Road, Orpington, Plaistow, Purley and Shadwell fire stations. Each will be energy efficient and contain the latest green technology.

On their completion, Kier Services will fully manage the facilities for 25 years, in a contract valued at around £700,000 per annum.

Kier Group chief executive, Paul Sheffield, commented: “We are delighted to have been appointed PFI partner for this important project for London Fire Brigade. As the scheme will be financed, designed, built and maintained by our three divisions, it provides another opportunity to demonstrate the wide range of capabilities our combined businesses can offer.”
