News Jewson Names Construction Industrys Top Young Talent

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, builders’ merchant Jewson has announced the shortlist for its Young Tradesperson of the Year competition.

The award recognises the talent of full and part-time construction professionals and apprentices under the age of 30.

From nearly 150 entries, five finalists have been selected. They are Grant Gibson and Martin Daly, both from Glasgow, Callum Millington from Warrington, Carly Doolan from Newcastle and Stockport’s Jon Wynne.

A panel of industry experts featuring Andy Barrie from online builders community On The Tools, Liz Male, chair of quality assurer TrustMark, journalist Fiona Russell-Horne and Donna Rostovsky from Osma will now select a winner.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the calibre of entries, which really show the enthusiasm and talent of young construction tradespeople, said David Fenton, marketing director at Jewson.

“The success proves what we’ve known all along: there is some remarkable skill and passion in the industry. Selecting a winner won’t be easy.”

As well as the title of Young Tradesperson of the Year, the winner will receive a holiday to Barcelona, tickets to a football match at Camp Nou and £1,000 worth of tools.

The winner will be announced on March 24 on the Jewson Facebook page.
