ISG has secured a £3.1m project to construct a new design & technology teaching block at Llanishen High School in Cardiff, with the scheme awarded as part of a new regional public sector framework agreement.
The South East Wales Schools Capital Working Group (SEWSCAP) framework sees 10 local authorities collaborating over the next four years to deliver education projects across the region. ISG’s successful appointment to this select list adds to the contractor’s prominent role on the influential Cardiff City Framework, under which ISG refurbished the sports hall at Llanishen High School earlier this year.
This latest scheme sees the construction of a new two-storey, steel frame design & technology building, which will provide additional modern teaching accommodation at the highly regarded school. ISG’s comprehensive works package includes the full fit out of the new facility, which incorporates food preparation classrooms on the first floor and carpentry workshops at ground floor level.
The new building will be linked into the adjoining science block, which will remain occupied throughout the duration of the project. The scheme is scheduled for completion ahead of the start of the new academic year in September 2013.
