News Council Homes Under Construction Site Former Doncaster Depot

A former council depot in Doncaster is being transformed with the construction of new homes.

Work has begun on 12 homes on Mere Lane, Armthorpe, which are being delivered through the council’s New Build Scheme.

It is one of nine sites which will see 120 new council homes built by Willmott Partnership Homes Ltd and, once completed, will be managed by ALMO St Leger Homes.

The new homes which will be built and completed in 2017 are funded through a combination of Homes and Communities Agency grant and funding allocated from Doncaster Council’s capital programme.

Councillor Jane Nightingale, cabinet member for housing, said: “I am delighted to see these quality new council homes being built. They are much needed by families across the borough.”

In February 2016, six new homes were completed on Shelley Avenue in Balby, in June 2016 the first family moved into one of the new homes at Victoria Court, Bentley, and building work is underway at Layden Drive in Scawsby and at Wildflower Close and Whitcomb Drive in Rossington. Work at Croasdale Gardens, in Carcroft, has been completed. Work will start at the remaining sites in the coming months.
