Carillion has been appointed to build new offices at One St Peter’s Square in Manchester city centre.
A joint venture between Manchester-based developer Argent and the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund are behind the plans to redevelop the 14-storey building into a 273,000 square landmark office block.
Local firm Connell Brothers is carrying out the demolition of the existing offices which is due to be completed by April, when Carillion will start building work.
The building has been designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.
Work is expected to start in April with the building to be handed to occupiers in early 2014.
Accountants and business advisers KPMG will take three floors in the building, making it their new headquarters from 2015.
