The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), in conjunction with the Construction Youth Trust, Anglia Ruskin University, the University of Central Lancashire and the College of Estate Management has launched the Female Graduates into Construction campaign.

The project supported by funding from the ConstructionSkills Women into Work project aims to promote the role of female managers in construction, match graduates to employers for recruitment as graduate trainees and provide structured training in partnership with employers and partner universities; leading to professional membership with the CIOB and sustainable professional employment.

The project will aim to support 50 female graduates by March 31, 2008.

Chris Hughes, chair of the CIOB's graduate Diploma Programme Management Committee, said: "Breaking down the barriers for women with the potential for successful careers in construction must be a high priority for the industry in the 21st century. This project will make a significant contribution to that ambition."
