Supermarket Waitrose has submitted a planning application to East Renfrewshire Council for its first purpose built store in Scotland.
The application, submitted jointly with Gleniffer Estates, is for a 36,000 sq ft plot in Newton Mearns, Glasgow. The store, which will be the largest Waitrose in Scotland, will have 25,000 sq ft sales area and 180 car parking spaces and is scheduled to open in February 2011. It will be the second phase of the Greenlaw Village Neighbourhood Centre- a £30m retail and leisure scheme, created jointly by Gleniffer Estates and Walker Group. |
