A £9m funding package has been announced by the Scottish Government to help house builders fight the credit crunch.

Around £4m will help accelerate site starts on six housing projects in Moray, Dumfries & Galloway, Argyll, the Borders and Fife.

A further £5 million will fund land purchase by housing associations to support development in Highland, Midlothian, Argyll, Dumfries & Galloway and South Lanarkshire.

Last month MSPs were told the sector could face 30,000 job losses this year.
