Nottingham council estate-demolition work begins E-mail

Bulldozers are due to begin demolishing council houses today as part of a £50m regeneration project in Nottingham, the largest such project in the city.

Around 250 homes will be removed on the 1970’s Stonebridge Park estate in St Ann's.

Redeveloped by Nottingham City Council in partnership with housing and regeneration agency, the LHA-ASRA Group, it will improve the layout and appearance of the estate in addition to providing a wider variety of homes for rent and for sale, including shared ownership.

The work will be carried out over four phases. In the first phase four blocks of three-storey flats- a total of 54 homes-will be demolished and the site re-developed with a mix of council and privately owned properties.

Demolition is due to be completed by March. Material from the demolition will be crushed on site and used to infill the adjoining subways.
