Developer Centenary Ashcroft has unveiled a £100 million redevelopment plan for Anglia Square, Norwich.

The scheme will see more than 430 residential units, mainly apartments, a major supermarket, shops, restaurants and cafes.

The site falls within the northern city centre which has been identified by Norwich City Council's  as a priority area for regeneration.

The new proposals, which form part of the area's action plan, include giving Anglia Square itself a massive facelift, demolishing Sovereign House and the “ugly” ramp leading to the multi-storey car park, new cycle paths and new pedestrian links connecting it to the city centre.

A public consultation  on the proposals has now opened. A planning application will be submitted by the end of next month and demolition work will start in mid-2008. The whole development is expected to be completed by 2011.

The architects for the scheme are Stanley Bragg Architects.
