It is thought a £250m opera house could be built in Manchester to replace the failed super casino. The development is on a list of projects being considered by a ministerial task force set up to regenerate East Manchester, the third poorest borough in Britain. It is thought Manchester City Council and the Royal Opera House are currently in talks. Manchester was chosen as the surprise location of Britain's first Las Vegas-style super-casino, in January 2007, beating Blackpool which was the favourite before being scrapped in February. |
