Manchester City Council has announced it will begin clearance work on 17 acres of development land around the City of Manchester Stadium at the start of 2010.
The council has published a tender brief worth between £10m-£15m for "remediation and site servicing to land bounded by the MCFC stadium, Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road". The package of works includes treatment of contaminated soils and water, moving obstructive utilities, capping mineshafts, removing underground structures, increasing utilities to the site and levelling it for development. The deadline for contractors to apply is January 7. |
