Birmingham tower blocks to be demolished E-mail

The demolition of two 13storey tower blocks in Birmingham is due to take place next week, paving the way for new homes to be built.

The demolition of the towers in Bartley Green will be carried out by City Demolition Contractors (Birmingham).

Redevelopment of the site will provide an opportunity for up to 80 new mixed tenure homes to be provided including outright sale, low cost sale, shared ownership and rent to support a balanced and sustainable community.

Due to the increasing requirement for larger house types for families in the area it is proposed that 60 percent of the new homes will have 3 bedrooms or more.

The development opportunity is anticipated to attract interest from a range of potential developers.

It is thought a developer will be selected in 2008. Work will then begin on site in 2009.
