Olympic sites beef up security
Monday, 07 July 2008

The search has started for contractors to provide security services for the Olympic Park.

The contract includes security guards and systems to control access to the site. Other measures to ensure the safety and security of workers and local people in the area are also included.

The increase in security will be stepped up as construction work increases on site. Temporary hoardings that currently surround the Park will be replaced by a more substantial perimeter fence, subject to planning approval.

The 3.6m-high fence will be in place ahead of the peak of construction activity in 2009. It will be see-through so that local people can watch the construction first hand. Parts of the fence will remain during the Games.
