The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) today said it has agreed a fair wage for contractors working on 2012 Games venues and infrastructure.
The ODA said all bidders for Olympic contracts will have to show how they will promote best employment practices, including decent wages and health and safety measures. The agreement follows a statement by the ODA in November 2006 that it is committed to encouraging fair employment practices including wage levels offered by contractors. ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: “We cannot make the London Living Wage a blanket condition. However, for those tenders within London's boundary, we will make it clear that we support the London Living Wage.
“We now have a mutual understanding with London Citizens and will continue to work with them and other key organisations to ensure the Games deliver a lasting economic legacy for east London.” |
