The London Development Agency has appointed Andrew Altman – Philadelphia’s former deputy mayor - as the chief executive of the 2012 Olympics legacy delivery company.

Altman joins the new chair of the legacy vehicle, Baroness Margaret Ford, in working to secure a lasting legacy for the Olympic Park.

He joins from his role as deputy mayor for planning and economic development and director of commerce in Philadelphia. Before this, he worked as planning director at Washington DC, where he headed its Anacostia River waterfront project which reclaimed over 2,800 acres along the city’s waterfront.

Before his appointment in Philadelphia, Altman was president of Altman Development in New York.
