One of the “Big 5” permanent Games venues in the Olympic Park, the VeloPark will include the Velodrome for indoor Olympic and Paralympic Cycling events and a temporary BMX circuit.

The design team will look at both the Games-time venue and how it will be transformed for local use after 2012. School children will be invited to enter a competition to help the winning design team develop plans for transforming the VeloPark after the Games.

David Higgins, Chief Executive of the ODA, said: “The design team competition will ensure that we continue to aim for the highest standards of design excellence across the project. “We will be challenging designers to create a venue fit to stage the Games while also providing a landmark building for future generations to enjoy.”
