The Northwest Regional Development Agency has awarded more than £8m to West Lakes Renaissance towards major infrastructure and site preparation of Ramsden Business Park, a key site on Barrow in Furness waterfront.
The flagship project will allow the site to be marketed to private sector developers and is the first step in the development of Barrow Waterfront Business Park, an ambitious regeneration programme that will transform a former brownfield site into a high quality business location. It is one of two major schemes in the Barrow Masterplan, which aims to diversify the area’s economic base and develop the town’s role as an economic, civic and cultural centre for the wider South Cumbrian economy. The 23ha site could accommodate up to 59,000 sqm of office, industrial, storage and distribution space creating approximately 2,000 jobs. It is being developed over 15 years in three separate stages, the first being Ramsden Business Park. |
