The man who was killed when a mobile crane toppled over on a Liverpool site on Thursday was a steel erector, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said.
An HSE spokesman told builderandengineer.co.uk the man was crushed while he helped erect steelwork at the Wavertree Technology Park. The work was to build an extension to medical supplies company SHS International. The Demag mobile crane was lifting a prefabricated steel section prior to being erected. The HSE spokesman said: “It appears that the steel section being lifted snagged on a tree. The deceased was a steel erector who was guiding the load on a rope. The crane jib came over on him.” The HSE is continuing to investigate the incident. |
