NSCC contractors have low injury rates E-mail

A survey carried out by the National Specialist Contractors’ Council (NSCC) has revealed that the fatal and major injury rates for its Specialist Contractors are lower than the rest of the industry as compiled by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

In the biggest NSCC accident survey yet of almost 2,500 Specialist Contractors, the NSCC fatal injury rate was 1.0 per 100,000 workers.

Given that the industry’s fatal injury rate at 3.7 per 100,000 workers reached its highest level for 5 years in 2006/7, the results of the NSCC survey show that Specialist Contractors continue to take health and safety extremely seriously.

The NSCC figures for 2006/07 also show a drop in the rates of major and over-3-day injuries compared to last year (5% and 19% respectively) in spite of the continued increase in the reporting of incidents to NSCC.
