Work halts on Grand Central E-mail
Tuesday, 13 May 2008

Asquith Properties has stopped work on its flagship 22-storey Grand Central development in Manchester city centre.

Poor pre-sales and an overcrowded Manchester market are understood to be behind the move to mothball the scheme which was launched last November.

Grand Central would have been Asquith's first Manchester development, comprising 231 studios, apartments, duplexes and penthouses. The site was bought from Taylor Woodrow for around £6m just over a year ago.

The firm will now look at either selling the site or putting together a new scheme.
