Wolseley to axe 269 jobs
Friday, 01 May 2009
Building materials group Wolseley is to close its distribution centres in Didcot and Chorle resulting in the loss of 269 jobs.

The plans are part of the company's focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs and realigning supply chain activities to the sales volumes in light of continued challenging market conditions.

At Chorley 133 jobs are set to go while 76 jobs will be lost at Didcot - where the lease expires in August this year.

A further 60 permanent positions at the transport out-bases that support the two depots will also go.

There will be a period of consultation of 90 days for affected employees.
