A bus station has been named as Welsh Building of the Year, in a competition for the public sector. The distinctive, glass-fronted transport interchange in Blackwood beat competition from across Wales to win the Claw Building of the Year 2007. The Consortium of Local Authorities Wales (Claw) is an association of local councils dealing with property management and promoting good practice for new building projects. Last year, the Tredomen Gateway Building in Ystrad Mynach received the top honour.
Designed by the council architect, the £2.4m bus station development was a central part of a multi-million pound regeneration package in the town involving the demolition of the former bus station and construction of a new facility on the same site. |
