According to the figures, from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG), the average value of a home is now £189,813.

House prices dropped 11.5% in January while month-on-month, house prices fell 2.7% in February.

House prices in Northern Ireland were hardest hit, down 19.4% over the year, followed by a 12.5% fall in Wales, a 12.4% decrease in England and 8.6% fall in Scotland.
