Transport for London has submitted plans to Lewisham Borough Council to include enabling works for phase two of the East London Line project.

The plans include

• A new footbridge between Oldfield Grove and Trundley's Terrace to replace the existing footbridge, which will be demolished
• A new underpass for a future grade separated junction with the ELL phase one
• Earthworks for the ELL phase one track and future phase two tracks within the Silwood Triangle site, including track drainage, underground pumping station, balancing pond and access
• Associated landscape planting.

Funding for the work has been secured and is scheduled to be carried out next year. It would then be finished for the opening of the ELL passenger services, scheduled for June 2010.

A Balfour Beatty/Carillion joint venture is working on phase one of the project, which will connect Canonbury and Highbury and Islington stations on the North London Line with Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace, West Croydon and New Cross stations in the south.
