Plans to build one of the largest winter sports centres in Europe have been approved subject to certain terms and conditions.

Communities Secretary Hazel Blears said SnOasis could be built near Ipswich, Suffolk, providing developers were able to negotiate a few remaining planning obstacles.

Developer Onslow Suffolk wants to build the £350m complex at a former quarry in Great Blakenham near Ipswich, Suffolk.

The complex will include Europe's largest indoor ski slope as well as an ice rink, hotels, shops and apartments.

Onslow Suffolk will now have to address a series of issues, predominantly linked to sustainability and wildlife, by July 30. It is thought a final decision will then be made by 17 September.
