Six teams of world-class designers are battling it out for the chance to design and build the UK’s pavilion for the Shanghai Expo in 2010 – their creations go on display today at the Victoria and Albert museum, London. The Shanghai Expo, which will run from May to October 2010, is set to be the largest yet. It will bring the world together for a global conversation about some of the most profound common challenges we face. The Expo will provide an opportunity to showcase the scope of the UK’s creative talent to the Chinese and 140 other countries taking part in the event. The six finalists, selected from over 40 of Europe’s top designers, have been tasked with designing a structure that responds to the theme of the 2010 Expo: ‘Better City, Better Life’.
