The new Scottish Construction Centre (SCC) was officially launched at the Parliament building at Holyrood.
The SCC has been established with funding from Scottish Enterprise, in response to the recent industry consultations and report which included a recommendation to establish a centre that would concentrate on improving the performance of the Scottish construction industry through increased innovation and the sharing of best practice. The SCC will work closely with the Scottish Construction Forum which focuses on providing strategic advice to the industry, the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliament. Addressing delegates at the launch, Minister for Schools and Skills, Maureen Watt MSP, said: "This new Centre has a real opportunity to promote innovation and excellence and improve productivity and performance in Scotland's construction industry, enabling the industry to grow, promoting best practice and sharing success and I wish the Scottish Construction Centre every success in meeting its aims."
Initial progress from The SCC includes the establishment of four regional 'nodes' in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, the creation of a 'one-door' technical helpline for the industry and the development of the SCC KPI framework |
