English Partnerships has announced that six unnamed developers or developer consortia have been short-listed to become English Partnerships’ preferred development partner at the national regeneration agency’s Roussillon Barracks site in Chichester.
The barracks, have been earmarked for a new community as part of English Partnerships’ programme to provide affordable housing by returning surplus public sector land to community use. All homes built will meet English Partnerships design and environmental standards and are to meet a minimum requirement of Level 3 for the Code of Sustainable Homes, increasing to Level 4 and higher dependent on the construction programme. The density of residential development at the site will be between 40 and 70 units per hectare, and may include a residential care home or retirement living. The 17.07 acres (6.91 hectares) site sits immediately south of the retained MoD land, and directly west of the former Graylingwell Hospital site which is also currently being developed by English Partnerships and developer partners Linden Homes and Downland Homes.
