Rotherham United FC stadium plans move ahead
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s cabinet agreed officers’ recommendation that the council buy the land needed at the Guest & Chrimes industrial site.
The site is bordered by the River Don on one side and the Rotherham-Sheffield railway line on the other.
The stadium will stand next to the council’s own new civic offices now under construction.
The club has been playing at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium since 2008, when they were unable to agree a deal to remain at Millmoor.
The planning application for the new stadium willbe submittedat the end of May.
