RIAS, the architects' body for Scotland, has arranged a competition on behalf of McLaughlin Construction, the site owner, and Irvine Bay Urban Regeneration Company for a prominent waterside site. Designs are sought for an apartment building on a prominent site close to the sea front at Ardrossan main beach. The challenge is to produce a compelling landmark design with a well-resolved plan. The promoter’s are seeking to achieve the following objectives. · A building design that will deliver a high quality of design that exploits the location. · A suitable landmark for this prominent location. · High levels of environmental sustainability. · A design that will meet market demand and can be built within the stated budget. · A solution demonstrating that creative and innovative design can be provided without compromising cost parameters.
