Plans to build a £34.7m campus in Plymouth are expected to be submitted this week. The campus in Estover, will house a community college, primary school, library, youth centre and the Plymouth Hospital School. The scheme will involve demolishing the ageing 1980's buildings of the community college and primary school in Estover, replacing them with state-of-the-art classrooms. The architects behind the scheme are Fielden Clegg Bradley while the councils preferred bidder to build the campus is Kier Western. Also built on the campus will be a museum foyer and exhibition space as well as a sports centre including gym and pitches. A new purpose-built centre for pupils with severe learning difficulties is also planned. The complex will include an amphitheatre at its centre, and wings dedicated to specific subjects such as design, and arts and information technology. |
