Tuesday, 25 March 2008

Plans for a £6.5m Museum of Somerset at Taunton Castle are set to go ahead after the project was granted planning permission.

The current Somerset County Museum will close on April 19.

The new museum will incorporate the latest exhibition design techniques. Visitors will be able to access and learn about these in a variety of ways such as through interactive displays.

Improved services will include a cafe, extended opening times and a large temporary gallery capable of staging national touring exhibitions. It is hoped annual visitor numbers will double to more than 60,000.
