The application will provide step-free access from street to platform level, and modernise the station to include installing new CCTV cameras, help points and provide a new public address system that will make announcements clearer.

Improvements also include providing a larger Piccadilly south side station entrance and direct access from the park. A modern sheltered paved area on Piccadilly would also be constructed, with a canopy providing cover for passengers waiting for buses and those using the lift.

The work is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
