Wednesday, 07 May 2008

Liverpool Football Club has been given the green light to progress with construction of a new 60,000-seat stadium in Stanley Park.

The revised plans were approved by the city council, who had asked that minor changes to the £350m project be made, including a smaller car park beneath the stadium and a reduced total height.

Liverpool has now won permission to build on the new site three times.

The football club's existing stadium will be redeveloped as a car park, sports centre and hotel.
