Liverpool FC stadium goes to plan E-mail
Tuesday, 24 July 2007

A full planning application to build a new stadium for Liverpool Football Club is due to be submitted this week.

The plans by American architect HKS, will be submitted to Liverpool City Council for detailed planning consent.

It is expected that the proposed stadium at Stanley Park will hold 60,000 fans but could be extended to 80,000 in the future.

The club had previously announced that it would name the nominated contractor by the end of July 2007, though this now seems unlikely. However, Laing O’ Rourke is regarded as well placed in the race to win the £270 million stadium.

Work will start before the beginning of 2008.
