A joint venture between developer Langtree and English Partnerships has received planning permission to redevelop 30 acres near Durham into a £16m business park.

The joint venture, Network Space, will build 52,000 sq ft of offices as well as 234 homes on the former Murton Colliery.

A third of the site will be a public park and open space, including new mounded areas, and footpath connections to Dalton Park.

Network Space said it was hoping to achieve a BREEAM 'excellent' rating for the business space.

The joint venture has already developed 700,000 sq ft of offices but Murton is its first mixed-use village out of a planned six.
