Land Securities has submitted a revised planning application for its Victoria Transport Interchange (VT12) development in London.
The detailed plans, submitted to Westminster City Council seek permission for a 2.5ha mixed use development. Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, Benson & Forsyth and Lynch Architects, the scheme will include six buildings near Victoria station, which is the capital's busiest transport hub with approximately 115m passengers each year. It will deliver private and affordable housing, premium office space, and retail and leisure units. The proposals also provide a greatly improved public environment, including a public library/community space, gardens, safe and convenient open spaces, public art and works to improve the flow of people around the busy Victoria Station area through carefully designed wide pedestrian routes. The submission follows an earlier application in 2007 which the council rejected in December for not complying with local planning policies on building height and affordable housing provision. Colette O'Shea, head of development for Land Securities' London Portfolio, said: Subject to planning consent, work on the scheme could start as early as 2010. |
