Kier Partnership Homes has started work this week on a new £25m housing development in South Birmingham.

The development from Bournville Village Trust will include 167 homes built to the newly introduced Code of Sustainable Homes Level 3 environmental standard.

The properties will be highly insulated and will incorporate solar hot water systems.

In order to reduce water usage, -low flush toilets, reduced capacity baths and water butts will be installed, along with composite aluminium on the windows to reduce maintenance costs.

Turner Townsend will project manage the development.

Phase One of the redevelopment is already complete. It includes fifty-six new bungalows, flats and homes as well as areas of landscaping, some public artwork and security lighting.
