Peel Holdings have sold a key site at Greenock's James Watt Dock for £10m. The buyer is River Clyde Homes which says the land will be used for housing. The houses will form part of the regeneration of Greenock's James Watt Dock where 1200 homes are to be built. River Clyde Homes struck a deal with Clydeport's parent company Peel Holdings to buy the brownfield site.
The overall £181m development at James Watt Dock is being driven by Clydeport (part of Peel) and Riverside Inverclyde, a public/ private initiative formed to regenerate a four-and-a-half mile stretch of land between Port Glasgow and Greenock. The housing deal comes after work began on a £3.7m renovation of the former Tate and Lyle sugar warehouse, also in James Watt Dock. |
