Danish furniture retailer JYSK says it has ambitious plans for Great Britain, following the opening of its first two stores at Mansfield and Lincoln. The company says that it could eventually finish up with 500 UK stores. “Great Britain is especially interesting for us, but at the same time it is a very difficult market to enter. Competition over here is very tough, but we are convinced that there is room for us and that customers will receive us well,” says Steve Stenhouse, Country Manager for JYSK UK. With the first two openings, JYSK has started a long-term conquering of Great Britain, where there is assessed to be room for 500 stores in the long term. “It is an ambitious target, but I believe it is realistic, and we are prepared to fight hard to hang on. Great Britain is an important market for us in our endeavours for further internationalisation,” says Lars Larsen, who owns the JYSK group and cut the ribbon at the opening in Lincoln. The first British stores will have an area of approx. 1.000 m2. With 1,350 stores, JYSK is now represented throughout Europe. |
