Interserve has taken a £32m contract to extend HMP Forest Bank, Salford.
Agecroft Prison Management Services, the PFI company responsible for the prison has awarded a contract to extend the facility and add another 232 cells. The extension will add two new wings, together with extra education and prisoner support facilities, an extension to the main prison kitchen, improvements to the visitor reception centre and extended visits area plus further physical activity space for prisoners. Construction will begin immediately, with the houseblock accommodation ready for occupation in November 2009.
