HLM leads Sheffield arts tower refurb
Friday, 11 January 2008

Sheffield's tallest building, the 22-storey University of Sheffield arts tower is to be refurbished in a £20m scheme.

The refurbishment of the Grade II* tower, built in 1964, is due to start next autumn with the tower reclad and radically improved internally. The aim is to make the building more efficient – improving the heating and ventilation, reducing glare, easing congestion around the lifts and lecture theatres, improving disabled access and increasing the number of toilets.

Sheffield architects HLM have been appointed.
